About me

Hi, I'm Sue

I’m about to embark on my new business! I’ve recently had a small studio built at the bottom of the garden and named it the Wilde Yoga Sanctuary, in memory of my parents.

I started yoga when I was 50, 16 years ago. Pilates was my former exercise routine, along with riding horses. Once I discovered yoga I was hooked. I found it has a way of healing my body and mind.

I did my teacher training in 2019 with the amazing Jodie Merrick, founder of Fringe Yoga in Epping.

Most people think yoga is all about the stretching, and many think they’re not “flexible” enough to do yoga. But yoga is for every body. Each of our bodies is unique, and what one person can do doesn’t mean the next person can. There are still many things my body can’t do, but I keep showing up and trying.

The practice

The Fringe Yoga method

The Fringe Yoga method aims to bring a little bit of everything to the practice. Fringe meaning "a field of study that departs from the mainstream". Using vinyasa flows, calming yin, maybe some weights and music, it should take you on a journey through mind, body and soul.

We work through the movements with the breath. As you become more familiar with the poses (asanas), the flow with the breath eventually starts to happen. Many of the poses help to release tension in your joints and soft tissue, and we work with alignment in every pose to make sure you are doing them correctly. As you begin to hold the poses for longer, repetition helps to build strength around the joints and your core, and helps with balance.

It's about showing up, and giving yourself that time for you, on your mat.
